I would like to thank Kate M. Colby for nominating me for The Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. I was surprised and overjoyed to receive the nomination! If you haven’t heard of this fantastic lady and her fantastic writing tips I suggest you mosey on over to her site. She’s pretty awesome.
The guidelines for accepting this award are as follows:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their site.
- Put the award logo on your blog.
- Answer the ten questions sent to you.
- Nominate seven blogs.
- Make a list of ten questions for your nominees.
Here are my answers to Kate’s 10 questions:
If you could not be a writer, what would your career of choice be?
My actual career now is teaching. I work in supplemental education- more so on the administrative side. I would love to work in a classroom again but I am having a hard time finding a job on the boards. If I could have any fantasy career I would be a veterinarian or a storm chaser!
If you won a lottery, what would you do with the money?
Wouldn’t it be lovely if I said ‘invest it’ or ‘save it’ like a proper grown up would do. The real answer is: how much did I win? If it was a couple thousand I would put a small portion of it towards my massive student debt. I would blow the rest on video games and ordering pizza every night until the money ran out.
Now if we are talking several hundreds of thousands or even millions I would:
1) Pay off my massive student debt
2) Buy many video games
3) Buy a farm or large plot of land and adopt a ton of animals. Cats. Dogs. Horses. Ocelots. Craken.
4) Travel- a lot.
5) Give some money to my family. Not a lot but just enough to appear generous.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Oh gosh, this is tough. I love travelling. My bucket list for travelling is extensive. I think if I had a one-ticket-to-anywhere-for-free type scenario I would want to go to Easter Island. It’s probably not a place I will ever be able to afford to go and I would love to see the giant heads (moai). Its history fascinates me. If not Easter Island I would want to go to Antarctica- because penguins.
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing about blogging the accomplishment I feel when I post and people read it. Bonus points if they enjoy it! I like its flexibility and how it can grow organically. I like learning about how to make my blog, and writing, better.
What is your least favorite thing about blogging?
Maintaining a regular update schedule. I hope some of the changes I am making to my life in the next year allow me a little more freedom, energy, and creativity so this becomes less of an onerous burden.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Working from home, writing for fun and for work; living with my best friends and making art with them on the regular. A novel independently published. My online Graphic Novel up and running. Being Youtube famous wouldn’t hurt. I see myself living a much happier and fulfilling life.
If a genie gave you three wishes, what would you ask for?
More wishes- duh. If not more wishes (because genies are jerks like that) then I want infinite money- in dollars. I would give a lot of money to medical research, building and funding programs for the homeless, adopting all the animals, and generally proving I am a good person. 2) All world governments have to actively work on solving global warming. 3) Make me a bad-ass assassin- like in Assassin’s Creed or like Hawk Eye. I already have my Batman-esque cover because of wish #1.
If you could go back in time and prevent a book from being published, would you? And which one?
Mine Kampf came to mind- but I would not prevent any book from being published. I think that is equivalent to book burning. Literature, even literature written by unstable dictators, is a window into the past, into a culture, into minds and hopes and dreams. It is linked with free-speech and to remove that, even by one book, to me is unthinkable. Besides if I can go back in time there are so many other things I would do instead! For example, I would steal the Harry Potter series and publish it before J.K Rowling can. It wouldn’t technically be plagiarism because it doesn’t exist yet! Or pick winning lottery numbers, or visit dinosaurs (I wouldn’t really do that. I’d be eaten really fast).
What is your favorite thing about yourself?
My patience and positivity. I work with kids a lot. The one thing I get complimented on is my ability to stay calm, collected, and positive. It takes a lot to get me riled up, and if you get me there you have crossed some serious lines. I work with kids with a lot of different abilities and difficulties which requires a ton of patience and positivity. It makes me happy to make others happy.

I’d like to nominate Sherri Lehn at Fashion Lehn. She is insanely talented and creative and she makes her own clothes.
I’d also like to nominate Julia Reddick– an amazing writer friend who is currently undertaking the crazy hard task of becoming a teacher.
Ok- so I kinda fall down in this part. I don’t think I have seven people I can currently nominate as I am still building my online community. However as I find more people to nominate I will update and pay it forward!
